Langevin ducks final debate
WARWICK, RI – As a result of Representative Langevin backing out of a final campaign debate scheduled to air on Newsmakers, on Channel 12 this Sunday, September 10, Jennifer Lawless, candidate for U.S. Congress from Rhode Island’s 2nd District, released the following statement:
“Between ducking debates and disrupting press events, Representative Langevin obviously does not want to tell Rhode Island voters about his eleven votes to stay President Bush’s course in Iraq, and doesn’t want me to tell them about it either.
“But it’s clear: we need to hold President Bush accountable for his war in Iraq, and Jim Langevin hasn’t. We need to demand that President Bush provide a plan to bring our trips home safely and soon, and Jim Langevin won’t. And we need a Representative who will fight back against President Bush and the Republican agenda, and Jim Langevin refuses.
“Unlike Jim Langevin, I’m not afraid to let anyone know what I believe and what my priorities are for Rhode Island. He can duck debates and send lawn mowers to my press conferences all he wants, but the truth will still come out: on Iraq, Jim Langevin is wrong for Rhode Island families, and I will do better.”
