Jennifer Lawless, Rhode Island Veteran Expose the Truth About Langevin’s Record on the War in Iraq

Ad, entitled “Demand,” highlights Langevin’s support for President Bush’s Iraq policies
WARWICK, RI – Jennifer Lawless, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District, today unveiled the next television advertisement of her campaign, entitled “Demand.” The ad, featuring Les Costa, a Vietnam veteran who lives in Barrington, RI, exposes Lawless’ primary opponent’s record of support for President Bush’s so-called “stay-the-course” strategy in Iraq.
“I believe that the war in Iraq is the biggest of many failures of the Bush administration – and of Democrats who have gone along with his plans,” Lawless said. “President Bush and the Republican Congress led us to war with no plan to win or leave, and too many Democrats like Jim Langevin refuse to hold them accountable for it.
“Leadership is demanding every day that we bring our troops home safely and soon. Jim Langevin has been on the sidelines of this debate – and worse, he’s voted almost a dozen times with the Republicans and President Bush to stay the course. That’s not what this country needs, and that’s not what Rhode Islanders deserve.”
Since initially voting against the war, Langevin has made nearly a dozen votes with the majority of Republicans in support of Bush’s stay-the-course strategy. These votes include two occasions, on May 25, 2005 and December 16, 2005, when he actually voted against setting a timetable in Iraq.
