Lawless Takes Message of Change to Television

August 22, 2006

Campaign’s first TV ad highlights grassroots support, differences with Langevin
WARWICK, RI – Jennifer Lawless, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District, today unveiled the first advertisement of her television campaign. The ad, entitled “Knock,” shows Lawless taking her message door-to-door, a focus of her campaign from the beginning.

“A year ago, no one knew who I was,” said Lawless. “Since then, we’ve knocked on thousands of doors across the district, and learned first-hand just how many Rhode Islanders are ready for change. When people hear how Jim Langevin is wrong on so many issues important to Rhode Island families, we’ve been able to change a lot of minds. Now this ad takes that grassroots effort to the airwaves.”

Lawless continued, “Representative Langevin won’t hold George Bush accountable for the mess he’s made in Iraq – I will. Langevin has been fighting to deny women the right to choose – I’ll fight to protect a woman’s right to choose. And while Langevin votes with Congressional Republicans nearly 60% of the time, you bet I’ll fight back when George Bush and the Republicans try to stick it to Rhode Island families.”

The ad initiates a district-wide paid advertising campaign that Lawless for Congress will be running through the primary election on September 12th. The ad can also be viewed on the campaign website, http://LawlessforCongress.com.
