Lawless Named Woman of the Month
WARWICK, RI – Jennifer Lawless, a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Rhode Island's second congressional district, announced today that she has been named "Woman of the Month" by the Women Under Forty Political Action Committee (WUFPAC).
"The Women Under Forty PAC has been a wonderful supporter of my campaign and I am honored to be named their Woman of the Month," Lawless said. "Historically, the voices of young women have been absent from congressional policymaking. Women have a unique perspective in shaping public policy and, too often, their voices are muted. WUFPAC is an important organization to have on my side because they understand the importance of electing young women to serve in office."
WUFPAC is a non-partisan political action committee that supports women under the age of 40 who are seeking state and federal offices. Young women are currently vastly underrepresented in Congress. Of the 535 members serving in the House and Senate, only four are women under 40. Previous WUFPAC Women of the Month include U.S. Representatives Stephanie Herseth, Linda Sanchez, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
WUFPAC officially endorsed Lawless's campaign in August. Their profile of Lawless can be viewed at http://www.wufpac.org.
