Lawless Receives First PAC Endorsement
WARWICK, RI – Jennifer Lawless, a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Rhode Island’s second congressional district, announced today that the Women Under Forty Political Action Committee (WUFPAC) has officially endorsed her candidacy. This is the first official endorsement for the Lawless campaign from a political action committee.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to have the Women Under Forty PAC on my team,” Lawless said. “Historically, the voices of young women have been absent from congressional policymaking. Women have a unique perspective in shaping public policy and, too often, their voices are muted. WUFPAC is an important organization to have on my side because they understand the importance of electing young women to serve in office.”
WUFPAC is a non-partisan political action committee that supports women under the age of 40 seeking state and federal offices. Young women are currently vastly underrepresented in Congress. Of the 535 members serving in the House and Senate, only four are women under 40. Previous recipients of the WUFPAC endorsement include U.S. Representatives Tammy Baldwin, Stephanie Herseth, Linda Sanchez, Loretta Sanchez, and Heather Wilson.
WUFPAC’s members at-large choose the candidates they endorse. WUFPAC provides support for candidates for federal office by drawing national attention to their campaigns, supporting them financially, and encouraging their members to support them.
