Lawless begins foot campaign for Congress

WARWICK - Jennifer Lawless, a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Rhode Island's 2nd Congressional District, announced in a press release that she would embark on a walk from one corner of Rhode Island to the other. Starting in Glocester today, Lawless will walk during daylight hours through each of the 20 cities and towns in Rhode Island's 2nd Congressional District, including Warwick, where her campaign is headquartered.

"So many of the Rhode Islanders I've spoken with over the past few months have talked about how they feel they're ignored by politicians," said Lawless in prepared remarks. "I care about issues that are relevant in every city and town. I want to show Rhode Islanders that, rain or shine, summer or winter, I'm listening. Their ideas matter to me."

Lawless will begin her walking campaign in Glocester and eventually work her way into Foster, Scituate, Johnston, Providence, Cranston, Warwick, West Warwick, Coventry, West Greenwich, East Greenwich, North Kingstown, Exeter, Richmond, Hopkinton, Westerly, Charlestown, South Kingstown, Block Island and Narragansett."

"There is no question that I'm running a grassroots campaign," said Lawless. "But I want to make it clear to Rhode Islanders that I am ready to represent their interests in Washington." She continued, "Campaigns today are so focused on money and television ads that individual citizens are ignored. I believe that conversations with individual voters are crucial to our democracy. I am excited about having thousands of these conversations over the course of my campaign."
